Get Your Vehicle Towed In A Hurry

Posted on: 19 March 2015

Because people depend on their car to help them out in all aspects of their life, you can find yourself in a real bind if your car suddenly breaks down. Just abandoning your car and moving on with your day can create a hazard for other drivers. If you call for a hook-and-boom truck, connecting the towing cable to your vehicle can scrape or otherwise damage your bumper. Thus, it is important to make sure you call for a tow truce that will get you on your way quickly and won't damage your car.

How Does a Spectacle Lift Work?

Unlike the hook-and-boom truck which uses a boom and winch to create the leverage to lift the drive wheels of a vehicle off of the ground, a spectacle lift uses a hydraulic arm. This arm extends from the back of the truck at a downward angle. At the end of this arm are two cross bars. These cross bars may be adjustable so that the distance between the bars can easily be adapted to fit a certain wheel diameter. The two cross bars cradle the drive wheels of a vehicle, and the hydraulic arm can then be raised to lift the wheels off of the ground.

What Makes a Spectacle Lift a Good Choice When You're in a Hurry?

Every minute that you are stuck waiting for your car to be towed can be excruciating. In order to not miss work, meetings, or other appointments, you should call for a spectacle lift. All the operator has to do is use the controls to slide the crossbars under your wheels then lift your drive wheels off of the ground. All that is then left is to attach straps to secure the wheels to the tow truck, and the driver is off. In a matter of a couple of minutes, the driver wheel can have your car headed to a shop, so you can get on with your day.

Limitations of the Spectacle Lift Truck

A spectacle lift will work well for most cars. If you have a front-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive vehicle, the spectacle lift will easily lift your drive wheels off of the ground. However, if you have a four-wheel-drive, or all-wheel-drive vehicle, you will need to lift all of your vehicle's wheels off of the ground in order to tow your vehicle safely. In which case, you will need to call for a flatbed tow truck.

There is not reason why a vehicle breakdown should derail your entire day. As long as you call for the right tow truck, you should be on your way in no time. If you're in a bind, contact AC Towing
